About the Role

As a Payroll & Benefits Administrator, you will play a key role in processing payroll, maintaining records, and administering employee benefits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with employment standards and regulations. You will be the go-to expert for employees’ payroll and benefits inquiries, fostering transparency and trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for salaried, hourly, and contract employees with precision and timeliness.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Process ROE’s and complete year-end reporting and filing, including  T4s and other required forms.
  • Administer the OMERS pension plan and extended employee benefits programs, managing enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Provide clear and accurate responses to payroll and benefits inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Finance to reconcile payroll data and generate reports.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, employment standards, and collective agreements.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Stay up to date on payroll legislation and benefits regulations, advising leadership on necessary adjustments.
  • Work closely with third-party vendors to ensure seamless payroll and benefits administration.

Requirements & Prerequisites

What You Bring

  • Solid experience managing payroll operations, including direct deposits, statutory deductions, and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of CRA rules, employment standards, labour laws, and pension regulations.
  • Ability to conduct audits and ensure precise payroll and benefits administration.
  • Strong ability to explain policies to employees and liaise with Human Resources and Finance teams.
  • Previous experience interpreting, applying and communicating employee benefits programs (e.g., health, dental, pension plans, and disability insurance) to staff and working with insurance companies to resolve employee benefit issues.
  • Working knowledge of collective agreements and effectively applying their provisions to payroll and benefits administration to ensure accurate compensation and compliance with negotiated terms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience administering pension plans to ensure accurate contributions, compliance with regulatory requirements, and support for employee retirement planning.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems (ADP WFN), HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Excel for reporting and reconciliation.
