L'arche Hamilton Overnight Weekend Relief Support
Job Description
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• An Overnight Awake Assistant time is 11pm -7am, 2and 3 nights/ week. Occasionally, the overnight person will be asked to attend a meeting outside of these hours related to core member. Alternating Wednesday- Sunday and Thursday – Sunday
• On arrival, read the night time communication book to obtain relevant information about core members’ well-being and /or check in with the House Leader or another member of the House Team regarding issues that may arise in the night.
• Be attentive to the personal needs of the Core Member as needed, especially attending to their health or behavioural support plans/program throughout the night.
• Administer PRN medication as required, under the direction of the House Leader.
• Write a summary of how night routine went. Record instances when any other core members were awake or unwell in the overnight communication book.
• In case of emergency, wake an assistant to help respond to this.
• Complete light domestic work (eg. house & laundry of Core Members as needed, tidying up the kitchen, wash bathroom(s), mop/wash floors on ground floor). Prepare 3 casseroles per week that can be used at mealtimes at a later date.
• Fill out the Daily Night Check form for the house.
• CPR, CPI and First Aid qualifications must be updated yearly as per L’Arche Hamilton policy.
Requirements & Prerequisites
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Fluent in spoken and written English and able to effectively articulate thoughts and ideas in a team setting
• Clear police check including vulnerable sector screening
• Valid CPR & First Aid certification asset (L’Arche provide training)
• At least 18 years of age
