Job Description

Canadian Tire, Fairview has an immediate need for an experienced Bike Builder & Product Assembler.

You are handy and enjoy working with your hands. Natural ability to build and assemble. You have experience building, enjoy working on a team and take pride in your work.

As a Bike Builder & Product Assembler, you will build inventory for the store and on demand items for our customers. A large portion of the building is bicycle inventory for the Sports Department, as well as dealing with repairs and mechanical issues that a customer may require. You are good at troubleshooting. In this role, you must have a willingness learn and adapt to a changing environment. Superior focus, multitasking abilities, and communication skills are essential to success in this position. Additional building will also be required including patio furniture, BBQ’s and home furnishings. Experience building and a mechanical aptitude is required. Occassional assistance working on floor helping customers in the Sport Department will be required.

Scheduling varies from 2 to 4 shifts per week. Must be available day, evening & weekends.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Able to do small quick tasks for customers in terms of bike maintanence (changing flats, making minor adjustments).
  • Estimate cost and time for building tasks.
  • Ensure work and products are delivered on time.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, organized repair room.
  • Scheduling service and repair appointments.
  • Complies with company, store and department policies and health & safety program and regulations.
  • Completes training as requested or required.
  • Polite, friendly, and enthusiastic interactions with customers needing repairs or service.
  • Completes other store tasks, as required.

Requirements & Prerequisites

  • Experience building bicycles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical components of bicycles is necessary.
  • Handy, with an affinity to build.
  • Ability to work autonomously, multitask, and prioritization.
  • Working with a sense of urgency.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and a desire to help customers.
  • Previous experience working in retail is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work with others in a positive manner.
  • Must be able to routinely lift 25-50 lbs.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Varied weekly hours and available to be on call.
