Job Description

Light Duty Cleaner

St. Patrick Parish, a Roman Catholic Church located in Inner-City Hamilton is currently seeking a skilled and confident individual to be a Light Duty Cleaner. This position is to provide support to the Assistant Facilities Operator working both inside and outside a Church environment. If you have experience in the janitorial/cleaning industry, we urge you to apply.

Responsibilities:

Some experience in general cleaning in a business environment within both Church and/or office setting, including but not limited to:
Sweeping, mopping, washing floors and other surfaces inside buildings, vacuuming, spot cleaning, dusting, cleaning bathrooms. (Standard bathroom procedures are to damp wipe glass surfaces, empty waste baskets, service soap and toilet paper dispensers, dust sills, clean tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, sweep/mop/scrub floors, etc.)
Glass in interior doors
Restocking of supplies
Collect building trash daily placing it in approved container and place in designated collection area for subsequent removal.
Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specs
Ability to make decisions based on sound judgement
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, bend etc.
Any and all other duties as assigned
Follow policies and procedures of the Parish and Diocese of Hamilton ie. Confidentiality etc.
Follow all direction given by the Facilities Operator. Assistant Facilities Operator and Pastor or their representatives
To attend and complete all necessary training as required by position

Requirements & Prerequisites

Qualifications Required:

Work or education in the field of cleaning is preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with a diverse population
Understanding the importance of processing times, customer service, organization & flexibility
Current Judicial Matters and Criminal Record Check will be required
Ability to work independently and/or within a team setting
Ability to follow direction
Ability and willingness to adapt to changing environments/situations
Volunteer experience is desirable

How To Apply

Job Type – 8 Week Temporary Contract – Full Time, 35 Hours

Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. However, candidate must be willing to work alternate days or hours, if needed.

Salary – $16.50 per hour

Location – Hamilton Centre
