Job Description

St. Patrick Parish, a Roman Catholic Church located in Inner-City Hamilton is currently seeking a skilled and confident individual to be a Landscape/Labourer Helper. This position is to provide support to the Facilities Operator working both inside and outside a Church environment. If you have experience in the landscaping industry, we urge you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience in landscaping
  • Experience in general grounds keeping, including but not limited to:
  • Cutting, trimming, maintaining flower beds, planting, sodding, turf management
  • Able to operate basic landscaping equipment including mowers, tractor, pruning saws etc.
  • Ability to make decisions based on sound judgement
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, bend, dig etc.
  • Assist with daily cleanup of grounds
  • Follow policies and procedures of the Parish and Diocese of Hamilton ie. Confidentiality etc.
  • Follow all direction given by the Facilities Operator and Pastor or their representatives
  • To attend and complete all necessary training as required by position

Requirements & Prerequisites

Qualifications Required:

  • Work or education in the field of landscaping is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with a diverse population
  • Understanding the importance of processing times, customer service, organization & flexibility
  • Current Judicial Matters and Criminal Record Check will be required
  • Ability to work independently and/or within a team setting
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to changing environments/situations
  • Volunteer experience is desirable

Job Type – 8 Week Temporary Contract –  Full Time, 35 Hours

Salary – $16.50 per hour

Location – Hamilton Centre

As this is a Canada Summer Jobs Summer Employment Program opportunity, applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment, be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and be legally entitled to work in Canada; to apply. Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. However, candidate must be willing to work alternate days or hours, if needed.
