Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Brothers of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. A Permanent Full Time position at Women’s Services (30 Pearl St. N. Hamilton, On, L8R 2Y8) currently exists in the role of:

HOUSEKEEPER

Hours of work: 40 hours per week.

The Housekeeper enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients through the assumed responsibility for housekeeping at Women’s Services. Reporting to the Manager of Hospitality, the Housekeepers ensure the overall cleanliness and respectful appearance of the facility, including supporting the Case Manager teams in unit turnovers. Hospitality and availability is aided by providing an environment that is welcoming and hospitable to clients and community guests. The Housekeeper may assist in supporting the Kitchen where required to ensure consistency of operations. The incumbent must also be able to demonstrate flexibility in the carrying out of her work in response to client and organizational needs. They will adapt to the needs of diverse clients accessing service.

Applicants should possess an appreciation and understanding of a range of issues impacting women and children including abuse, poverty, homelessness, mental illness and addictions. Applicants must adhere to confidentiality and professional boundary expectations. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a Grade 12 education with a minimum of one year of cleaning experience required. A valid C.P.R. and Food Handlers certification (or willingness to be certified.) required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary. Fluency in a second language and/or French is an asset. The applicants will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, quality, adaptability, responsibility and dignity.
