Job Description

Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. An opportunity currently exists at The Good Shepherd Venture Centre in the role of:

Market Place Assistant – Three (3) Summer Student Positions
(Temporary Full Time – 8 Week Contract – 35 Hours Per week)

The Market Place Assistant preserves the dignity of clients by providing support services, which may include food and personal needs items, as well as protecting the confidentiality of client information.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity with knowledge of and sensitivity to the issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions and developmental disabilities.

Required to be proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet). Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, current enrolment in a community college certificate program in Social Services or equivalent related post secondary education and a basic working knowledge of Social Service agencies and community resources. The successful candidate must be age 30 years or younger. Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset.
