Job Description
BUTCHER OR MEAT CUTTER
Cutting, deboning, trimming, grinding, weighing and packaging meat and seafood
products to specification or customers’ requirements.
Providing courteous, positive, and efficient customer service; responding to customer
inquiries appropriately.
Taking customer orders via phone.
Creating, maintaining, and rotating retail counter product displays while ensuring safe
food storage.
Maintaining clean equipment and work areas to prevent meat contamination and
uphold health and sanitation standards and regulatory requirements.
Monitoring, adjusting, and sharpening cutting and grinding equipment.
Receiving, inspecting, unloading, and safely storing meat products upon delivery.
Keeping inventory of meat sales, ordering meat supplies to maintain appropriate stock
levels.
Other duties as assigned.
Wages: $24.00
Requirements & Prerequisites
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of types, cuts, and preparation methods of meat.
- Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, applicable food handling and sanitation requirements.
- Ability to use knives, scales, and other implements safely and with precision.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Ability to concentrate on a singular task.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
