Job Description

BUTCHER OR MEAT CUTTER

Cutting, deboning, trimming, grinding, weighing and packaging meat and seafood
products to specification or customers’ requirements.
 Providing courteous, positive, and efficient customer service; responding to customer
inquiries appropriately.
 Taking customer orders via phone.
 Creating, maintaining, and rotating retail counter product displays while ensuring safe
food storage.
 Maintaining clean equipment and work areas to prevent meat contamination and
uphold health and sanitation standards and regulatory requirements.
 Monitoring, adjusting, and sharpening cutting and grinding equipment.
 Receiving, inspecting, unloading, and safely storing meat products upon delivery.
 Keeping inventory of meat sales, ordering meat supplies to maintain appropriate stock
levels.
 Other duties as assigned.

Wages: $24.00


Requirements & Prerequisites

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of types, cuts, and preparation methods of meat.
  • Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, applicable food handling and sanitation requirements.
  • Ability to use knives, scales, and other implements safely and with precision.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to concentrate on a singular task.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
