Days & Hours of Work: Day Shift is Mon-Fri, 7am-3:30pm / Afternoon Shift is Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-2am
Note: Overtime is paid after 40 hours and if you work Sundays you’ll receive double time. Group Benefits and DPSP available after 3 months.
JUNIOR MACHINE BUILDER (Wage: $22-$26 per hour)
The Machine Builder’s primary function is to build and assemble machinery, pipe fitting, and enclosures. Handle, move, load, and unload material, mostly heavy metal, by hand or using a variety of material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes in a manufacturing environment.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, product specifications, and understand tolerances to determine assembly operations.
- Rig, hoist, move and align simple subassemblies and components to storage areas or within the worksite using overhead cranes and forklifts using established safety precautions.
- Fit and assemble simple parts to build heavy industrial machinery and equipment according to drawings and product specifications.
- Assist in installing major components such as gears, pumps, motors, hydraulics, fans, generators, insulation, soundproofing systems, and building panels using hand and power tools.
- Inspect, test, examine and investigate parts, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure quality and detect irregularities and malfunctions.
- Assist in performing on-site installation, servicing, and repair for commissioning or warranty work on customer finished products.
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed following the Occupational Health and Safety Act and participate in regular safety talks. Perform a visual inspection of equipment, including cranes, forklifts, and other tools, to ensure they are in safe working condition.
WELDER (Wage: $29-$35 per hour)
The Welder’s primary function is to weld large and complex structural components and framing based on technical drawings, schematics, welding process specifications, and other documentation in a manufacturing environment.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and welding process specifications, including the interpretation of welding symbols and tolerances in fractions, decimals, and metric dimensions.
- Rig, hoist, and move materials to storage areas or within the worksite using overhead cranes and tow motors using established safety precautions.
- Set up and operate various heavy-duty metal-working machines cutting using saws, ironworkers, torches, plasma and gouging, manual or semi-automatic welding machines, and grinders.
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies using GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, or SMAW equipment in flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions to acceptable quality standards.
- Layout stitch welds. Weld components with minimum distortion by welding procedure or use of bracing. Heat straightening of weldments.
- Removes rough spots from the workpiece using a portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
- Provide feedback on design improvements through communication with the Fabrication Supervisor and assist in preparing Engineering Change Request.
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed following the Occupational Health and Safety Act and participate in regular safety talks. Perform a visual inspection of equipment, including cranes, welding machines, cutters, and other tools, to ensure they are in safe working condition.
MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER (Wage: $30 per hour)
The Mechanical Assembler’s primary function is to build and assemble machinery, pipe fitting, and enclosures. Handle, move, load, and unload materials, mostly heavy metal, by hand or using a variety of material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes in a manufacturing environment.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, product specifications, and understand tolerances to determine assembly operations.
- Rig, hoist, move and align larger (up to 40 tons) subassemblies and components to storage areas or within the worksite using overhead cranes and forklifts using established safety precautions.
- Fit and assemble simple and complex parts to build heavy industrial machinery and equipment according to drawings and product specifications.
- Install major components such as gears, pump, motors, hydraulics, fans, generators, insulation, soundproofing systems, and building panels using hand power tools.
- Thread and install piping and pipe spools using engineering assembly drawings.
- Install/bend mechanical tubing from engineering assembly drawings.
- Inspect, test, examine quality and defect irregularities and malfunctions.
- Perform on-site installation, servicing, and repair for commissioning or warranty work on customer finished products.
- Provide feedback on design improvements through communication with the Supervisor and assist in preparing Engineering Change Requests.
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed following the Occupational Health and Safety Act and participate in regular safety talks.
- Perform visual inspection of equipment, including crane, forklifts, and other tools, to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Prerequisites
JUNIOR MACHINE BUILDER:
- Apprenticeship in Industrial Mechanic Millwright preferred.
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a heavy industrial equipment environment, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Power Generation, or Mining sectors.
- Ability to travel within North America with a valid passport and driver’s license.
- Must have own tools.
WELDER:
- A minimum of 5 years of equivalent work experience in a large/heavy custom steel fabrication environment.
- Preference to a graduate from a credited Welder Fitter program and/or completion of college or vocational/technical training.
- Valid and current CWB Welding Tickets are mandatory.
- Previous experience working within an ISO9001 environment is preferred.
- Must be familiar with all position welding and a variety of welding processes (i.e., GMAW, FCAW, SAW)
- Must be able to work to close tolerances.
- Should be able to lift Max 50lbs.
- Trade Tools: Weld Helmet, Chipping Hammer, Side Cutters, Wire Brush, Vice Grip Clamps, Tool Box.
MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER:
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a heavy industrial equipment environment, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Power Generation, or Mining sector.
- Experience with overhead
- Must have own tools.
