• Prepare a wide variety of foods through standard volume cooking methods, ensuring adherence to prescribed menus, works schedules and dietary charts;
• Maintain cleanliness of food services area, equipment/utensils;
• Assist in the receiving and stocking of food items;
• Assist with inventory of supplies;
• Perform other duties related to the operation of a large school cafeteria.


Requirements & Prerequisites

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role you will:

• Prepare a wide variety of foods through standard volume cooking methods, ensuring adherence to prescribed menus, works schedules and dietary charts;
• Maintain cleanliness of food services area, equipment/utensils;
• Assist in the receiving and stocking of food items;
• Assist with inventory of supplies;
• Perform other duties related to the operation of a large school cafeteria.
How do I qualify?
Knowledge and Experience
• You have thorough knowledge of food preparation, storage techniques/procedures and proper kitchen equipment operations, normally acquired through completion of a post-secondary education in chef/cook training course or related work experience;
• Completed Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to obtain;
• You have demonstrated experience in institutional cooking methods and procedures, especially in large volume cooking;
• You have experience operating commercial/institutional food preparation equipment;
• You know nutritional principles to assist in planning menus.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You have excellent communication skills including the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions;
• You have the ability to work independently and as a team member;
• Ability to communicate in American Sign language (ASL) or willingness to learn.
Physical Work
• You have the ability to work shifts and perform physical work.
