Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  • Review work orders for shift
  • Ensure band sizes meet customers work orders
  • Accurately measure and cut bands
  • Inspect all coils for scratches, marks, defects and notify Operator of defects immediately
  • Band the coil to specifications of the work order; including wrap, tighten and crimp all coils
  • Prepare tag information (updated coil information) and tag coil
  • Safely move coil from banding area
  • Ensure work area is clean on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with other job functions on line as required

Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate will have prior experience and knowledge of flat rolled steel industry
  • Knowledge of steel quality standards
  • Knowledge of job functions of both the slitter and pickle lines
  • Able to work in a fast passed manufacturing environment
  • Required to remain focused, alert and able to concentrate for extended periods of time
  • Able to multi task with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team with consideration for others and a willingness to assist with various line jobs to facilitate effective line operation
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs and ensure load is properly secured on the trailer
  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Self-motivated, punctual, reliable and highly safety conscious
  • Capable of working independently and able to follow instructions and directions from others
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment
  • 3 shift rotation with the possibility of a continental shift
  • Shift Premium for Afternoon/Midnight Shift
  • Company provided uniforms and yearly safety boot entitlement
