Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mobility Device Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, repairing, and maintaining mobility devices such as wheelchairs, scooters, and other assistive equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a commitment to improving clients’ quality of life through reliable mobility solutions. This position offers an opportunity to work in a supportive environment focused on enhancing mobility and independence for our clients. Knowledge of how to get around the City of Hamilton is a bonus, as well as not being afraid to ask questions, get your hands dirty and sort out how to give someone back their mobility, independence and quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of mobility devices to identify repairs or maintenance needs
  • Perform repairs, adjustments, and routine maintenance on various mobility equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications
  • Ensure all devices meet safety standards before returning them to clients
  • Document all service activities accurately and maintain detailed records of repairs and inspections
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain repair procedures and provide guidance on device usage and maintenance
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate device fittings and modifications
  • Stay updated on new technologies, tools, and best practices related to mobility devices
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times

Requirements

  • Proven experience or technical training related to medical equipment repair or similar technical fields is preferred
  • Strong mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members effectively
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment safely and perform physical tasks required by the role
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures related to medical device servicing
  • A valid G class drivers license and clean drivers abstract
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards
  • A compassionate attitude focused on improving client independence and well-being
