Torchman / Burner - 26 015
Job Description
We are a scrap metal torching company looking for an experienced Torchman. We work at multiple locations within the Hamilton and Niagara region.
We are looking for individuals with experience using an oxy/propane torch to cut scrap steel. The job involves using a torch to cut down large metal into smaller pieces.
Compensation: The job is piecework; you are paid by how much you process, typically $10-$15 per ton on average. Depending on the material being processed, an average burner could process 10-20 ton a day. With more experience those numbers continue to increase.
Days & Hours of Work: Monday – Friday. There is no set schedule & you can set your own hours but working in hot summer weather, you typically want to start early (5-6am) and finish early (1pm). Some Saturday mornings may be required.
Requirements & Prerequisites
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions, year round. This is a really hot environment especially in the summer, as you will be working with a torch all day long!
- Employer can provide on the job training and will supply everything needed except for steel toe boots
- A vehicle would be an asset but not required
