Job Description

Youth Services provides support to 15 co-ed homeless youth ages 16-21 as well as a 21 bed youth shelter, including youth who have ongoing contact or involvement with CAS/CCAS/Probation/Youth Justice System/ AY/ADGS and other family counseling agencies. Staff members support clients to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community.

 

In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of Clients living at Youth Services. Services to clients include assessment, planning, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counselling, education, advocacy, social/recreational programming, life skills teaching ie: cooking and linkages with other community services.


Requirements & Prerequisites

Qualifications

  • Primary case management and community development skills acquired through a post-secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker
  • A commitment to the mission values of hospitality, availability, quality, adaptability, responsibility and dignity
  • Must have some experience working with Youth
  • Knowledge of and experience working in residential treatment for Children under the Ministry Guidelines are a plus
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified
  • Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset
  • Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
  • Hours of work: schedule that includes night Sunday to Thursday – the shifts are 11pm-7 am or 12am to 8am (Must be flexibly to rotate)
