Job Description

This is an ideal position for someone passionate about creating and facilitating inclusive spaces for young people ages 13-18. Part-time minimum 15 hours/wk to start and up to a maximum of 30 hours/wk. $18.36 – $22.00/hr based on experience. This is a flexible position that takes place in office, community and virtually during daytime, evening and weekend hours. Must have own transportation.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide the youth-led member group. Recruit student volunteer members to assist in identifying, planning, scheduling, participating in, facilitating and evaluating activities.
  • Collaborate with Hamilton wide youth serving agencies and programs to cross-promote and create opportunities for Flamborough youth to meet and engage with other Greater Hamilton young people.
  • Plan outings including transportation if needed
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Flamborough high school guidance and coop program staff
  • Raise awareness of the program and promote involvement
  • Work with youth team and FC communications staff to advertise programs through appropriate channels including social media, local schools and other youth groups
  • Coordinate the FC’s youth employment and volunteer services which promotes employment opportunities for youth during the summer months and volunteerism throughout the year. Coordinate and organize one youth employment and up to two youth volunteer fairs each year
  • Compile all statistical data associated with program and provide detailed monthly reports on activities
  • Support the development and implementation of an annual Flamborough youth volunteer award
  • Support the development and implementation of an annual youth program fundraising campaign
  • Work with FC communications staff to develop participant and volunteer database and distribution list
  • Meet with supervisor when required to evaluate program successes and target ongoing activity goals
  • Support other FC programming and office duties (answer phones etc) when in office as required

 


Requirements & Prerequisites

  • Knowledge of rural Hamilton, Flamborough and Waterdown
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the experiences of those in community needing social supports
  • Post-Secondary completion in relevant field and a minimum of one-year related experience
  • Working knowledge of social, educational, employment, health and youth service resources within Hamilton
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills complemented by strong interpersonal, time-management and presentation skills
  • Excellent technology, social media, Canva and communication platform skills
  • Ability to work as part of a small team and take initiative
  • Knowledge of effective health and safety practices
  • Must provide vulnerable sector police record check
  • Must have G license, insurance and reliable vehicle to travel throughout area as needed
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if public health guidelines are resumed
