Job Description
Tempel is America’s largest manufacturer of magnetic laminations for the motor and transformer industry, dating back to 1945. With manufacturing facilities in USA, Canada, Mexico, China, and India we continue to be a fast-growing industrial manufacturer providing a full range of highly efficient transformer components at our facility in Burlington Ontario, where we have been since 1975.
Our primary products out of this location are Wound Distributed Gap Cores, Mitre and Butt Lap Laminations, Logs and Fully Assembled Cores in our Flat Stack Department, Steel Sales, Custom Slitting and a warehousing for Tempel Steel’s laminations.
In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Tempel has initiated several protocols to ensure the health and safety of our employees.
Full Time – 12 hours continental shifts (rotating days and nights)
Wages – negotiable plus shift premiums
Primary Functions:
• Stage all raw material for production in the Flat Stack and DG core departments.
• Stage all coils and upend for use in the Flat Stack and DG core departments to ensure operators are always supplied with material.
• Complete all return to stocks of raw material for Flat Stack and DG core departments located in the designated “return area”.
• Maintain all slit coil and finished goods inventory in a neat and organized manner, ensuring age material is being used before new production.
• Perform documented daily lift truck inspection (daily pre-start)
• Empty scrap and garbage bins when necessary.
• Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Tempel Burlington requires.
• Report to the supervisor or department head any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation or Tempel regulations or the existence of any uncontrolled hazards.
• Comply with all work instructions, procedures, policies, rules and manuals (Burlington Quality Management System, Evacuation procedure, Security and Health and Safety) issued by Tempel Burlington.
• Support and contribute to Tempel Burlington’s productivity program in order to improve overall effectiveness.
• Perform assigned duties as needed from Supervisors/ Management.
Secondary Functions:
• Assist in removing stock or finished goods from Flat Stack area or DG core test and pack area and deposit it in appropriate areas in an organized fashion.
• Put away all stock suppliers (i.e. banding, clips, cardboard,) on shelfs or proper storage area.
Requirements & Prerequisites
Required Skills:
• Lift truck (must successfully complete training, perform lift truck inspections and be competent)
• Good mathematical skills
• Strong organizational skills and time management
• Good attention to detail
• Good report writing skills
• High degree of accuracy
• Quality conscious individual
• Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others (supervisors, management, and employees)
• Good safety records
• Excellent communication skills
• Good computer skills
Other Miscellaneous Functions:
• Perform inventory control function for the plant to track packaging supplies and interacting with the purchasing department (tape, cardboard, skids, blocks, etc.)
• Assist other production departments as required
• Any other assigned duties
Education requirements:
• Grade 12 minimum, or experience, or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of shipping experience
