Job Description
We are looking for individuals who possess the following Qualifications and Knowledge:
• Experience in a childcare or school age program, working with children between the ages of 3.8 and 12 years
• Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE)
• Related experience in a childcare setting
• Member in good standing with College of ECE’s
• Valid Standard First Aid and Child/Infant CPR Certificate
• Demonstrated knowledge of “How Does Learning Happen?”
• Experience in program planning and implementation for kindergarten children
• Demonstrated ability to support the social/emotional development of children
• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Access to reliable transportation
The ability to work split shifts
Duties
• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate before and after school program for kindergarten children, by providing materials and equipment that foster their natural sense of curiosity and wonder
• Document children’s learning through photographs and text, making learning visible to others.
• Support healthy growth and development by organization a variety of activities/experiences both indoors and on the playground
• Foster children’s interests; ensure the equipment offered meets the development needs of this age group
• Encourage the development of social/emotional skills by offering support in the problem-solving process
• Encourage children’s independence in all aspects of the program
• Maintain appropriate written documentation in accordance with St. Matthew’s House Childcare policies and procedures, and Ministry of Education requirements
Requirements & Prerequisites
Member in good standing with College of ECE’s
• Valid Standard First Aid and Child/Infant CPR Certificate
