Job Description

Job Summary:

Ruby Tuesday Restaurant features a two-level dining experience with a roof top patio and salad bar. The successful candidate must have a total understanding of restaurant operations and is preferred to have either run or owned a restaurant previously.

Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, they will oversee the operations of the Ruby Tuesday Restaurant business unit and provide leadership and guidance to all Assistant Managers, Supervisors, Hosts, Servers, Food Runners, Dishwashers, Cooks, and support staff. The manager in this role will be responsible for ensuring that daily operations are sustained and improved as well as ensuring that customer orders are being prepared in an efficient and accurate manner by the NCR team.

Responsibilities 

Operations

  • Plan, organize, direct, and control the day-to-day operations of the business unit;
  • Maintain profitability of business unit with full comprehension of financial reports, inclusive of profit and loss reports, inventory costs (food, beverage, utility, and supply), and labour costs;

  • Maintain staff levels and recruit to ensure that business unit is sufficiently staffed to align with business needs;

  • Maintain inventory levels to ensure all regularly offered items are available for customers;

  • Ensure strict inventory controls on all products, which will include counting inventory, auditing, and spot checking;

  • Maintain strict cost controls to minimize loss;

  • Ensure diligent cash and point-of-sale controls and adhere to strict cash management procedures;

  • Schedule labor to align with business sales levels and operational needs;

  • Unload and break down product and supply deliveries;

  • Ensure staff keep sales and work counters clean and tidy during and between customers;

  • Keep all supplies stocked and ready to use; and

  • Remain current with legislation to ensure compliance with food handling and alcohol sales.

Sales 

  • Encourage a fun and safe atmosphere for customers;

  • Organize promotional activities and events for the business unit to drive sales;

  • Liaise with sales representatives and suppliers;

  • Knowledge of entire restaurant and bar offerings; and

  • Knowledgeable of products and services offered throughout the entire property in other business units.

Management

  • Oversee productivity, task execution, and customer service of all employees;

  • Educate and train employees to meet all company standards and safety guidelines;

  • Maintain a professional, positive, and friendly attitude towards customers and resolve customer complaints and disputes;

  • Ensure open lines of communication with Food & Beverage Manager and Senior Management; and

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Niagara Clifton Group Operations.


Requirements & Prerequisites

Qualifications 

Experience 

  • 5+ years of restaurant management experience required or an equivalent;

  • Experience in a food service, customer service, or restaurant environments required;

  • Experience with controlling financial inputs and outputs required; and
  • Minimum 5-years supervisory experience directing work, training, and educating employees required or an equivalent.

Education 

  • High school diploma required;

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field preferred;

  • Smart Serve certificate required; and

  • Food handling certificate required.
