PROPERTY ASSISTANT (Part-Time)

The Anglican Diocese of Niagara is seeking a part-time property assistant on a limited-term basis, as scheduled. The Property Assistant supports the daily operations of Cathedral Place and assists the Property Manager by undertaking a range of assigned tasks and responsibilities, for Cathedral Place, and other local diocesan properties.

Primary Responsibilities:    

  1. Coordinating maintenance work and performing minor repairs, painting, and other tasks as assigned by the Property Manager
  2. Inspecting property conditions to ensure safe, effective and presentable operations, including making daily and monthly fire safety checks
  3. Providing room set up and take down for various spaces, and tending to the needs of common facilities e.g. restocking bathroom supplies
  4. Serving as back up for the front desk receptionist, including answering phones, granting access to those permitted to enter, greeting visitors, directing them to meeting/events rooms, and enabling and monitoring their exiting the building
  5. Responding to emergencies and other incident as per policies and best practices in a quick, calm and efficient manner
  6. Securing the building as required, ensuring locked doors, closed windows, lights turned off, alarm set, or, when you are not the last person in the building, ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place for the building to be secured by others
  7. Being available, as scheduled, as a contact for the security surveillance company
  8. Performing the duties of the Property Manager when the Property Manager is not available

 

 


Requirements & Prerequisites

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Familiarity with basic “handyman” skills
  • Work diligence
  • Punctuality and time-management skills
  • Ability to take initiative in fulfilling responsibilities to promote a safe working environment
  • Familiar with WSIB reporting requirements, WHMIS, and the Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act standards
  • An up-to-date Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening is required
  • Must show proof of triple vaccination against COVID-19 in keeping with the diocesan policy.

Terms of Employment

  • Part-time, limited term employment (up to 20 hours per week)
  • Initial four-month contract (with possibility for extension)
  • $17.50 per hour
