The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is currently accepting applications for the position of Program Coordinator for the HRIC Homelessness Drop In.
The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre (HRIC) is a large Indigenous not for profit organization. The Program Coordinator, under the direction of the Executive Director or Designate, is responsible to create a culturally safe and appropriate space that is welcoming to our most vulnerable Indigenous brothers and sisters. The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordination of programming and service delivery. Creation and maintenance of relationships and partnerships with related agencies, businesses and organizations within the City of Hamilton is a key responsibility of this position.

SALARY: $47,736.00 per annum

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8 am to 4pm.
HRIC is a highly flexible organization offering additional compensation including 5 paid cultural days, 4 paid holidays beyond mandatory Employment Standards, paid shutdown over the Christmas holiday week, and health benefits. HRIC health benefits are offered to full time permanent employees, employees will be able to enroll upon the successful completion of their (3) three-month probationary period.

Requirements & Prerequisites

Qualifications:
 Two (2) year Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies, Social Service work, or a combination of equivalent and relevant education;
 Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated and related work experience within a homelessness and/or social service setting;
 Minimum of three (3) years of experience working within an Indigenous organization or community;
 Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture, and both historical and contemporary Indigenous issues. Emphasis being on the impacts of trauma and community outreach;
 Demonstrated ability to organize, develop and coordinate the delivery of programming to strengthen positive outcomes for the Indigenous community;
 Must have the ability to work collaboratively with community partners to foster meaningful program delivery, supports, and access to resources and services to assist those who are precariously housed;
 Training and/or experience in crisis intervention, de-escalation and conflict resolution;
 Must have the ability to work as a team player;
 Experience in MS Office applications;
 Must have excellent written, verbal, time management and organizational skills;
 Must be flexible and have a willingness to work occasional weekends;
 Possess a valid driver’s licence with access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel when required; and,
 Ability to obtain a satisfactory CPIC- Vulnerable Sector Search within 30 days of employment start date as a condition of the employment offer.
