Headquartered in Niagara Falls, Ontario, we have operations across Ontario, as well as in Quebec, Western Canada and the US. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Worker is primarily responsible for the operation of various shop equipment in order to prepare steel orders for delivery to Salit customers, on time and in compliance with company and customer requirements for quality, in a safe and efficient manner.

STARTING RATE OF PAY $21.37 / HR


Requirements & Prerequisites

JOB DUTIES:

  • Operates machinery, equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ensure machine guards are in place and material is handled in a safe manner
  • Must wear appropriate safety equipment as specified
  • Operation of Overhead Cranes (Training certification required prior to operating)
  • Use of a measuring tape to check material lengths and bends in steel
  • Follow work instructions, procedures and adhere to Company policies and rules
  • Report any unsafe acts or conditions of which you are aware
  • Maintaining regular attendance, arriving for scheduled shift on-time

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed in a non-climate controlled environment. Temperatures will fluctuate in accordance with the weather and the season.  Employees are to dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
  • Continuous walking, standing
  • Occasional heavy lifting – Employees are to use two man lift techniques or other lifting devices for loads that exceed their ability to lift safely (eg. Overhead Crane)
  • Working in the yards and shops with the steel is dirty, wear suitable clothing
  • Able to work on your feet – repetitive standing / walking
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Must wear hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, safety boots
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Adhere to the requirements of section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 diploma / must be 18 years +
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or construction environment considered an asset
  • Previous overhead crane or fork truck operating experience is an asset
