Job Description

The Maintenance Lead will be responsible for maintaining and operating production equipment to optimize availability, quality and speed by maintaining both mechanical and electrical subsystems.

Wage information: $38.00 – $45.00 hourly depending on experience

  • Ensure equipment is operating at peak performance in order to efficiently execute the daily production plan.
  • Investigate cost effective solutions to plant and machine problems.
  • Schedule repairs and PM’s with Operations to keep overtime and downtime to a minimum.
  • Take personal ownership and ensure equipment produces a quality product.
  • Follow, Understand, Implement and Sustain 5S principles.
  • Have the ability to understand and follow Lean principles.
  • Promote and suggest Visual Management throughout department.
  • Work with Management to develop and implement maintenance schedules for plant & equipment and ensure both are kept in proper condition through regular inspections.
  • Ability & desire for higher level and technical learning both on the job and in the classroom setting.
  • Ensure critical inventories are maintained in order to maximize utilization and reduce emergency down time.
  • Willingly train personnel on use of equipment and new tasks.
  • Ability to work overtime, rotating hours, Holidays, Weekends, and alternative shifts as required.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with established quality standards by working closely with the Quality Control Team
  • Ensure own work practices and environment comply with SHES standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the SHES plan for the site.
  • Participate in SHES monthly meetings as required.
  • Promptly report all unsafe working conditions and incidents.
  • Ensure minimum damage by implementing environmental improvements plans, minimizing waste, and waste reporting.
  • Closely adhere to SHES Model Procedures including a particular focus on the core procedures.
  • Ensure plant and equipment is in good order by regular inspection and site audit.
  • Create a positive SH&E culture by performing all tasks Safely. Participate in safety programs including PTW, JSERA’s, JCC”s, and promote safe work practices.
  • Assist in the execution of emergency & security plans.
  • Understand and follow Lockout / Tagout and machine guarding program.

Requirements & Prerequisites

  • Maintain attendance at a level above minimum standards of Employee Handbook, due to the critical nature of this position.
  • Communicate fluidly between shifts to ensure optimal equipment availability and quality.
  • Accepts coaching and criticism in regard to performance review discussion.
  • Identify personal training needs and requests development.
  • Act as a role model and provide strong, effective dedication to sustain a strong and committed team.
  • Ability to maintain plant Preventative and Predictive Maintenance program, identify critical equipment and components.
  • High School or GED equivalent minimum.
  • 2 years in role as a Maintenance Technician with proven competency.
  • Mechanical & electrical competencies and abilities.
  • Strong SHES standards.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Electrical aptitude.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings and blue prints.
  • Demonstrated and repeated problem solving.
  • Understanding of SHEs principles and management.
