Job Description
The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is currently accepting applications for the position of Landlord Liaison.

The Landlord Liaison is responsible for leading an effort to effectively market the HRIC services and supports to new and existing landlords and property managers with the goal of expanding the number of units available to Indigenous community members accessing services at HRIC. The Liaison will identify permanent housing units in the rental market in the Hamilton area, develop partnerships with landlords to overcome barriers that prevent participant households from obtaining permanent housing, and work closely with HRIC housing and homelessness staff to ensure participants can obtain and maintain safe affordable
Requirements & Prerequisites
QUALIFICATIONS:
2-year College Diploma or a University Degree in Social Service and/or or a combination of an equivalent and relevant education, skills and abilities as determined by the employer;
3-5 years of demonstrated and related work experience within the housing field;
Understanding of the barriers to accessing and maintaining housing from an Indigenous perspective;
Demonstrated ability to coordinate landlord outreach efforts with local partners that include apartment associations, tenant councils and other community partners with an emphasis on recruiting additional property owners;
Strong ability to network and maintain contacts in property management and real estate;
Ability to develop and implement workshops, groups and surveys;
Awareness of changes in market and community processes that can impact services and ability to bring forward prospective recommendations;
Strong communication, listening and interview skills, as well as critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities;
Participation in relevant community activities and committees;
A clear Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) with a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer; and
Valid G driver’s license, reliable transportation and clean driving record required.
