General Labour - Heavy Civil
Job Description
To assist in our high growth civil operations, we are looking for a responsible Laborer to add to the team. Laborer responsibilities include performing heavy manual tasks and assisting with projects of all types. We want someone who has a high level of physical ability and who can do repetitive tasks. This position requires physically demanding labor, including lifting, moving and carrying materials, as well as operating construction machinery and performing other duties involving strenuous physical work. We’re also looking for a person who can work independently without direct supervision. You should have the ability to follow instructions without a lot of supervision. The goal is to contribute to the company’s daily operations through manual labor and assist in the maintenance of equipment.
Requirements & Prerequisites
Requirements
- Follow Supervisor’s direction
- Physical labour – heavy lifting, demolition, chipping concrete, shovel, rake and other site works
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, barricades, and other temporary structures
- Experience working with and around heavy equipment
- Clean, prepare, and maintain equipment, tools and construction sites
- Other concrete works
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area at all times.
- Maintain a safe workplace by complying with all safety regulations and procedures set out in the Company and Provincial health and safety policies.
- Work in all weather conditions and available for 50 to 55 hours per week
Experience:
- perform physically demanding work in construction or a similar field: 2 years (required)
- direct bridge rehab experience (seen as a benefit but not requirement)
What we are looking for:
- Willingness to travel – UrbanLink bids work in a number of markets in Ontario. Housing and living allowance provided for out-of-town work.
- Willingness to work shifts depending on project’s requirements specifically for out-of-town work
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and flexibility to bend over and move around without hindrance
- Working at Heights and WHIMS certification
- Full G license with clean driver’s abstract – if you work out of town a license is not mandatory and can be picked up by another employee
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
