Job Description

In a compassionate, hospitable and non-judgmental manner the Cook under supervision will be responsible for the preparation and provision of all meals and snacks for the Guests of our Emergency Shelter, Community Hot Meal Program and Catering functions.


Requirements & Prerequisites

Qualifications

  • Minimum academic requirement is a 2 year diploma acquired from a recognized Culinary Management/Food Services Program, or equivalent
  • Experience in large quantity cooking in a commercial kitchen, be able to plan meals, rotate stock, and utilize donated and purchased foods creatively, nutritiously and attractively
  • Food Handlers Certification is required
  • Must be certified or willing to attain certification in CPR
  • A valid drivers’ license and clean abstract is a necessity for this role
  • Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset

  • Hours of work: 80 hours every 2 weeks, weekday’s evenings and some weekends
