Job Description

Brenn B Farms is a family owned grower of produce for distribution to major retailers and distributors.  Brenn B Farms Head Office is in Waterdown, Ontario. We are looking for a full time Farm Production Supervisor to join our growing team. Each day presents new challenges for which you will need to present solutions ensuring minimal downtime.

This is a full-time position full time and is not seasonal.

Responsibilities:

Supervisory:

  • Provide direction to the Production Lead Hand and Labourer’s
  • Coordinate the work and schedules of general farm workers and harvesting labourer’s
  • Conduct shift meetings to ensure staff understands daily objectives and output requirements
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and positive work atmosphere
  • Monitor ongoing work, identify problems, and find remedies
  • Report any operating or quality issues to the Production Manager for resolution.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish to provide training and mentorship to laborers.

Quality

Ensure supplier and customer standards re followed as they relate to quality and food safety

  • Maintain quality and production records
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
  • Report any nonconformities to the Production Manager or Compliance Manager
  • Expertise in proper storage and handling of product
  • Understanding and experience with the growing operations and grading of product

Safety & Training:

  • Coordinate with Production Manager as well as Compliance Manager of JHSC Certified Member to address safety concerns immediately.
  • Active member of JHSC
  • Ensure other workers are following food safety rules and safe work practices as well as compliance with all company policies.
  • Provide instruction to laborer’s on specific job duties

Other duties as assigned by the, Production Manager, President BBF, VP of Field Operations BBF


Requirements & Prerequisites

Experience Required:

  • The ability to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English
  • 10 + years of farm production and growing operations specific to potatoes
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and implement or make suggestions to provide solutions
  • Lift Truck training, able to properly load or supervise the loading and unloading of trucks for both outgoing and incoming product as well as storage product
  • Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Food Safety training and Canada GAP training
  • Overall understanding of all farming operations, equipment, and potato storage
  • Ability to direct a team and instruct workers on job tasks

Rate of pay will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, the range being $ 18 to $20 hourly for those who have a demonstrated skill set.
