MY PROGRAMMING TEAM
The MSA Programming Team is a department within the Student Experience Team (Programming, Student Services and Communications), that provides inclusive, social, educational, and fun experiences through events, workshops, activities, and student clubs and communities. The team collaborates with Mohawk students and the Mohawk community to meet the social, physical, mental, and professional well-being needs of students.
WHAT YOU DO
The Events Coordinator is responsible for the planning and execution of student programming and events for Mohawk students in partnership with MSA departments, staff and stakeholders, both in-person and virtually at campus and partner locations. The Events Coordinator will focus on creating and co-creating memorable experiences with students, for students, that support the programming and student life cycle framework.

You have a passion for working for and co-creating experiences with students. You bring a positive energy each day to mentor, inspire and build communities while fostering belonging. You have a high level of problem-solving abilities and a high level of autonomy and self-directed priorities. You can understand and articulate how programming impacts the MSA Vision, Mission and Values, and you can adapt to changing responsibilities and the diverse needs of students.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Plans and executes student programs and events best suited to support the student life cycle, following the overall programming framework.
- Lead and support a team of student staff with a focus on mentoring, supporting and leadership development. Student staff play an integral role in the planning and execution of student programming and events.
- Collaborate with MSA staff, BOD, college staff and community partners to support the overall balanced programming slate.
- Collects, analyzes and utilizes student programming feedback.

Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the MSA Student Experience Team to execute student-focused programs and experiences at all campuses and virtually, which includes program logistics and partnering with other staff.
- Supports programs that celebrate days of significance (holidays, celebrations, awareness themes and important college-wide dates).
- Hires, mentors, develops, and supports the student programming staff.
- Coordinates contracts, facilitates payments, purchases, prizes and the use of spaces, venues, and equipment.
- Helps inform budget plans approved by the Programming Manager
- Champion in interpersonal facilitation and fostering belonging amongst students, staff and participants.
- Develops relationships and collaborations with campus partners (i.e. Student Life, Athletics and Recreation, Indigenous and International Services, Accessibility, Wellness, etc.) to coordinate programming efforts and initiatives that support the student life cycle
- Collects and analyzes post-program feedback
- Executes risk management and safety plans.
What you Need in Education, Experience, and Training for your Department:
- Post-secondary in Event Management, PR, Marketing or Communications with 2 years practical experience OR 3+ years’ experience in an event setting.
- Experience in leading students, preferably in a post-secondary environment, providing support and mentorship.

- Proficiency and comfort in a digital environment
- Strong group facilitation and public speaking skills, both virtually and in-person
- Comfortable with streaming platforms, audio and visual equipment and/or the willingness to learn and seek training and support.
- Ability to work independently/in a team with minimal guidance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Standard work hours are 35 hours per week. This may include evenings and weekends when required.
- Travel between campuses will be required
- Able to work in a variety of event-related settings that may involve sitting, standing, lifting, and transporting.
