Job Overview:

We are looking for a responsible custodian to maintain our facility here at FSI. The external and internal appearance of our building is reflected in the occupants. It is important in this role that the custodian be thorough and careful in cleaning and tidying the premises, as well as preventing vandalism. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large office and shop floor space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure spaces are kept clean by taking out garbage and dusting surfaces
• Sweep and mop floors, vacuum all carpeted areas
• All meeting rooms, dusted and vacuumed
• Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and restock disposables (e.g. soap, papertowel)
• Wipe all mirrors and windows where necessary
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs (broken switches, fixing door handles, replace light bulbs)
• Report all major damages to management
• Spot clean lobby glass front door and any other partition glass
• Coffee machine(s) daily maintenance cleaning, replenish etc.
• Clean and sanitize drinking fountains daily
• All garbage bins in both lunchrooms emptied daily (including shipping and receiving area)
• Dust all furniture including desks, chairs, tables all exposed filing cabinets and shelves
• Wash lab floor (once a week)
• Clean all 5 fridges, oven and microwaves
• Clean and sanitize urinals, toilet bowls, hand basis and mirrors
• Refill all dispensers to normal limits-napkins, soap, tissue, towel, liners
• Low dust all horizontal surfaces including sills, moldings, heating outlets
• Thoroughly dust mop floor and spot damp floor
• Thoroughly clean all areas with floor scrubber provided (using degreaser product)

Shift Timing:

• Monday to Friday 8:00AM until 5:00PM – 40 hours a week
• Vacation paid on each cheque
