Job Description

The Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton Halton (ASBHNHH) is looking for a qualified bilingual counsellor to provide counselling and support services to persons living with dementia and their caregivers, in accordance with the Alzheimer Society’s Strategic Plan. These services are delivered in-office, by home visits, and by phone, using both individual and group approaches.

This counsellor position will be working out of our Hamilton office, located at 550 Fennell Avenue East, Suite 205, Hamilton, with travel throughout the city. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, but occasional evening work may be required.

Requirements & Prerequisites

Specialized Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Eligibility to become a member of a professional college
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages
  • Clear verification of criminal references for the vulnerable sector
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work independently, professionally, independently and collaboratively

 

Experience Requirements:
  • Experience working with people with dementia and their families
  • Support group leadership experience

 

Educational Requirements:
  • University or university degree in social work (MSW, BSW, SSW) or comparable pedagogical preparation for the position
