BAS Controls Technician
Job Description
Ideal Candidate will perform the installation and maintenance of automation systems that control such features as lighting, temperature, cooling system and water heating. And, able to do the work himself if needed i.e., possesses working knowledge and experience in working with BAS and DDC.
Job duties
- Read and understand Specs.
- Ability to determine proper solution based on requirements.
- Drawings on Visio and CAD software
- Managing and handling BOM for projects as it relates to BAS and digital controls.
- Coordinate Work with project and admin teams as needed using the company’s internal systems and tools.
- Coordinate work on site, Manage communication with contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Supervise work on site as required by project managers.
- Execute projects:
- Prepare programs and code for devices.
- Install and wire of control devices (Whether by Project team or by others).
- Commission devices, system, or solution as required.
- Must keep up with developing technology in their field.
- Provide detailed information on the design and operation of the BAS to customers, consultants, subcontractors, and the field installation team.
- Training personnel in the use of systems.
Salary: $56,000 per year
Requirements & Prerequisites
Education Requirements
A bachelor’s degree or diploma in building automation systems (or related courses), engineering, electrical engineering, or industrial engineering is preferred. However, we would consider years of work experience in the absence of a degree. Work experience in BAS maintenance is an asset.
Required Skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills to be able to interpret customer desires and preferences and serve as an intermediary between customers and construction engineers.
- A background of Design and configuration of building automation systems including integration to other low voltage control sub‐systems to meet the intent of the project requirements, and often manage the installation and commissioning of the project.
- Technical skills to troubleshoot design or installation problems.
- Ability to work with CAD software to design system schematics.
- Strong knowledge of the construction and HVAC/BAS industry
- Strong knowledge of digital controls design/strategy, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.
- Experience in the integration of low voltage building sub-systems.
- Familiar with microcontroller programming, binary and digital logic, and analog circuits
- Ability to carry a product design from conception into production.
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to work safely with hand and power tools and diagnostic tools such as multimeters.
- Math skills to budget and coordinate projects
- Strong technical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to coordinate a project from development and stakeholder engagement through implementation and evaluation.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude while under pressure.
- Proficient with computers, phones, and other office equipment
- Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple priorities
- Demonstrate an attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience in any of the following: ASI controls, JCI, Metasys, Niagara, Iconics
