Reporting to: Front of House Manager

Casual Seasonal Contract Position September to June

Theatre Aquarius’ Front of House Department is currently accepting applications for the role of Bartender. This is a casual seasonal position for an experienced and outgoing team player. This role consists of working evenings and weekend hours as required and may include statutory holidays. The typical shift length is four hours.

Key Accountabilities

  • Comply with all AGCO regulations including checking ID to verify legal age
  • Prepare drink and snack orders and ensure that all patrons are served in a timely manner
  • Ensure pre-orders are prepared prior to intermission
  • Utilize point-of-sale system; handle cash, debit, and credit card transactions; ensure charges are accurate on machine and that proper change is given in return.
  • Balance till at the end of every shift
  • Monitor patrons for signs of intoxication and refuse service to intoxicated individuals
  • Conduct inventory counts at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure the product and till balance
  • Restock product after the show starts and after the intermission
  • Clean all bar areas, tools, glassware and lobby tables
  • Always promote a positive perception of Theatre Aquarius both internally and externally
  • Other duties as required

Nature and Scope

Contacts

  • Regular internal contact with Front of House Manager and Duty Managers
  • Regular external contact with theatre patrons

Physical and Sensory Demands

  • Physical ability to lift/carry 30 pounds
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods of time (up to and occasionally over
    1 hour)
  • Sensory ability to operate a point-of-sale system on an iPad

 Working Environment

  • Frequent exposure to a noisy environment for up to an hour at a time prior to the performance and during intermission

Requirements & Prerequisites

Education & Training

  • Secondary School or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Smart Serve
  • Valid First Aid considered an asset

 Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in fast paced quality hospitality environment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with occasional conflicts
  • Understanding of cash management
  • Ability to provide fast and accurate service
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
