SOS Intensive Case Manager (With a primary focus on Housing/Landlord relations)

Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. Temporary Full Time position (up to 6 months) currently exists in the SOS Program at Good Shepherd Women’s Services, 30 Pearl St N, in the role of:
SOS Intensive Case Manager
(With a primary focus on Housing/Landlord relations)
Hours of work: 80 hours every 2 weeks: weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Reporting to the Program Manager of Housing Services, the SOS ICM will assist the SOS program’s goal of rapidly matching clients to available units. The successful candidate will assist in developing strategic relationships with private market landlords, including providing information about the SOS program, facilitating regular access to market rent units, and assist with unit showings. The SOS ICM will provide support to landlords who currently house Good Shepherd clients in regards to concerns, complaints or maintenance requests. The candidate will assist with communication between landlords and clients regarding eviction prevention and housing stability plans.
The SOS ICM will support with client-related tasks including move-in coordination, pest control support, safety planning, tenancy-related issues. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating work orders with contractors and completing unit turnovers. There is potential for the SOS ICM to have a designate caseload of SOS clients.
Applicants must have the ability to work within a feminist, anti-racist/anti-oppressive framework and have a minimum of 2 years residential experience. Experience working with vulnerable clients in the community is necessary. Knowledge of Housing First Principles, Residential Tenancies Act, and safety concerns related to violence against women are required. Previous work experience with housing, customer relations and administrative duties are an asset. Driver’s license and ability to drive Good Shepherd vehicles is required. Knowledge of French and/or additional languages are an asset. Valid First Aid/CPR, related post-secondary education and a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, responsibility, quality, adaptability, and dignity are required. The successful candidate will have a flexible schedule.
