Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes Inc. Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. There is an upcoming opportunity within our Good Shepherd Housing team in the role of:

Gardener
(Temporary Full Time Contract)
(July 2020- October 2020)

In a compassionate, hospitable and non-judgmental manner the Gardener will be responsible for areas of care which will include all planting, weeding and general maintenance of all Good Shepherd garden properties. (does not include lawn maintenance) We have approximately 15 properties that require garden maintenance and will require excellent planning and time management skills.

Qualifications:
A passion for gardening is a must. Duties will include weeding, mulching, separating plants and planting annuals/ bulbs. Spring cleanup and winter close is required.
Horticultural experience with gardens and trees is considered an asset. Students, who are currently attending school in a related educational field are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must have knowledge of common planting practices and plant identification, knowledge of plant health care practices, pruning of trees, bushes and plants, weeding season cleanups and mulching. They must hold a valid G Ontario Driver’s License, non-probationary. Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset. Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills are critical to this position.
