Job Description

Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. An opportunity currently exists to join our team at the Men’s Centre in the role of:

Kitchen Aide/Driver
Part Time

Reporting to the Kitchen Supervisor, the Kitchen Aide/Driver will enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients, visitors, donors and staff by ensuring that all persons accessing the services of the Kitchen are treated with dignity, respect, hospitality, flexibility and compassion.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of Hospitality, Responsibility, Availability, Adaptability, Quality and Dignity by ensuring the deliveries arrive promptly and in good condition.

Applicants will require to demonstrate professionalism and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities will include preparation of raw foods, the delivery of prepared food from The Centre kitchen, and other food items, to other centres, catering functions, rinsing, washing, stacking and storage of all dishes/utensils used in food preparation, and transportation.

Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast paced and changing work environment. Hospitable in dealings with clients/public / volunteers / staff, and other key stakeholders. Available and responsive to the needs of others. Respectful and compassionate demeanor. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. CPR Certificate (or willingness to be certified) will also be required. Minimum Grade 12 education and / or 1 year experience in related field. Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset. Must have a valid drivers’ license and clean abstract. The successful candidate must be available Monday through Sunday as needed.
