Job Description

Baycoat is currently the largest steel coil coater in Canada. Baycoat employs a workforce of approximately 175, operating two coating lines that are capable of accommodating numerous paint systems, offering well over 1,000 colours. These coating lines currently paint over 200,000 tons of steel annually, serving customers in various markets including the residential and commercial construction markets.

Baycoat began operations in 1965, as a joint venture between Dofasco and Stelco, Canada’s two major steel companies. Baycoat was formed to meet a growing demand for pre painted steel. Over the years Baycoat has proven itself as a safe, reliable company, offering high quality products in a cost efficient and timely manner. Baycoat recently celebrated 50 years of ongoing success.

Qualifications

We are seeking a multi-skilled individual to join our Maintenance department. The primary function of this position is to repair, inspect, replace, install, adjust and maintain plant equipment.

The ideal candidate must have their industrial electrician’s license (442) or Construction and Maintenance License (309A), related work experience in manufacturing industry. This position works as our first line maintenance resource on 12 hour rotating shifts. Experience with AC/DC drives, PLC’s (preferably Siemens) and control systems would be a definite asset. This position is a mix of mechanical and electrical/controls work.

The successful candidate must be willing to undergo the training required to obtain the Maintenance Gas Fitter (IMT) designation. The duration of such training varies depending on the background of the candidate (4 to 6 weeks).

Working Hours:

– This is a shift position which will require irregular work hours, overtime and responding to “call ins”.

Compensation Package:

– Potential to earn $35.40 per hour depending on experience plus shift premiums.
