OVERVIEW – THE POSITION

As a member of the Estimation team, you will be accountable for reviewing potential tender opportunities, preparing take-offs, projecting accurate job costs, coordinating and creating tender documents. Other accountabilities may include: tracking market intelligence, understanding new products and trends as well as facilitating long term customer relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

*          Calculating quantities of materials required and preparing labor estimates

*          Review FTP sites and other plan rooms for appropriate tender request inflow volumes

*          Maintain job files with supporting documents, develop schedules, and create purchase

orders and ensure proper information hand over

*          Research and review new products and/or suppliers for improved quality, cost effectiveness and reliability

*          Communicate with key customers. Maintain intimate knowledge of their schedule

requirements and product preferences

*          Price and create documentation for customer changes and extras

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

*          Minimum of 3 years of relevant commercial glazing estimation experience required.

Field experience, combined with estimation, would be considered

*          Proficient in blueprint and specification reading

*          AutoCAD, Construction or Architectural Engineering Technology Diploma’s are a strong advantage

*          Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

*          Attention to detail and good time management are mandatory traits

*          Experience with glazing contracts, unitized curtain wall systems and Kawneer products are a definite asset
