Job Description

Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. An opportunity currently exists to join our team at the Men’s Centre in the role of:

Housekeeper
Full Time

The Housekeeper enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients through the assumed responsibility for housekeeping services in accordance with the Role Description, particularly by ensuring the overall cleanliness and respectful appearance of the facility, as well as maintaining adequate supplies for the facility related to housekeeping. Hospitality and availability is aided by providing an environment that is welcoming and hospitable to clients. The incumbent must also be able to demonstrate flexibility in the carrying out of her work in response to client and organizational needs and must be able to adapt to the changing needs of a diversity of clients accessing service.

Applicants should possess an appreciation and understanding of a range of issues including abuse, poverty, homelessness, mental illness and addictions. Applicants must possess a minimum of a Grade 12 education with some housekeeping experience in a residential facility (preferred), a valid C.P.R. certification (or willingness to be certified) and a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity. Proficiency in French and/or another language other than English is an asset.

The successful candidate must be available to work weekend shifts and flexible to accommodate program needs as required.
