Job Description

St. Matthew’s House is a place of hope where disadvantaged families, children and individuals receive help to improve their lives and increase their capacity to participate in the community. Our Holiday Program Coordinator requires a Holiday Assistant to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position in accordance with the mission of St. Matthew’s House. The ideal candidate will be upbeat, have a positive attitude, be committed to accuracy and have the ability to juggle various priorities.

Requirements & Prerequisites

The Holiday Assistant will be required to perform an array of duties including but not limited to

  • emailing donors, sponsors and clients;
  • answering the phone line; matching sponsors and clients;
  • emailing wish lists; tracking donor information;
  • and distribution of Holiday hampers.

Some weekend and evening work is required.  The Holiday Assistant for the Holiday Program Coordinator will work on-site in our distribution warehouse (offsite from St. Matthew’s House main office.) There will be times when lifting hampers is needed. They should be able to lift a maximum of 40 lbs. often, during the day.

Do you have the following skills & knowledge?

  • Extremely well organized, flexible, and detail oriented
  • Secondary School Diploma or Business Administration degree or diploma
  • 2-3 years’ experience as an Assistant, or relevant role, considered an asset.
  • Proficient use of various office based software including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills via telephone, email and in person
