Job Description

VT Controls Ltd. is a Direct Digital Control (DDC) and Building Automation Systems (BAS) solution provider for more than 15 years located in Hamilton, Ontario. VT Controls Ltd. is a growing company and is in need of a reliable, experienced Accountant to help manage the financial record keeping in our office.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and Maintenance of General Ledger Systems of Corporate Group.
  • Corporate Transaction Experience including Intercompany transactions, reconciliation of balances and appropriate account matching.
  • Ensure General Ledger Maintenance is kept current and relevant including vendor and customer databases.
  • Maintenance and Compliance to organizational procedures and systems, finance policies and corporate policy.
  • Verify and Review Day to Day transactions including payables, revenue service and time and material billings, performing checks and audits.
  • Proactive Provision of Accurate Reports, Schedules, reconciliations, invoice summaries, analysis as required by Finance Manager.
  • Manage and ensure project billings complete, tracked and reported as required by Finance Manager.
  • Knowledge of payroll related legislation, payroll calculations including EI, CPP and filing requirements, employee reimbursements, deadlines for reporting WSIB, source deductions and other tax remittances.
  • Ensure all payables statements, vendor relationships and communications are maintained
  • Ensure collections are completed weekly, Invoices are sent correctly with all completed documentation.
  • Manage Purchase Orders, estimates and job costing in QuickBooks and Wrike Process system of company.
  • Manage Project financial documentation needs including WSIB clearances, forms and Insurance certificates.
  • Manage Insurance policies and renewals, vehicle fleet and expense needs.
  • Manage Inventory Tracking.
  • Maintain Banking Reconciliations, transfers and reports in combination with Finance Manager. Must have good knowledge of electronic payment methods and systems.
  • Bring the General Ledgers to Trial Balance stage.
  • Support Finance Manager during year end process for companies including ensuring General Ledger balancing, inter-company accounts and bank accounts balancing,
  • Provide Year end support and analysis, documents as required by year end engagement.

Salary: $60,000 per year


Requirements & Prerequisites

  • Accounting Degree, business education – Mohawk or equivalent
  • Accounting Firm Experience would be an asset.
  • 3+ years Accounting Experience and knowledge, particularly in project accounting and costing.
  • Experience in processing payroll, understanding of underlying legislation, ability to research.
  • 3+ Quickbooks desktop skilled experience in payroll, progress invoicing, job costing.
  • Previous experience with Dropbox, file storage using cloud computing required.
  • Attention to detail, desire to ensure financial accounts are correct, complete and maintained currently.
  • Proven ability to work in a team and adherence to filing deadlines.
  • Pro-Active, understanding financial reporting needs and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
