Retail Meat Cutter (Upper James, Full-Time)
Responsible for cutting and preparing fresh meat products to standards. Also responsible for serving customers at the Meat Counter in a courteous and friendly manner.
Responsibilities
- Reports to: Fresh Meat Department Head.
- Assists customers in the selection of cuts of meat, and other products sold at the meat counter.
- Cuts fresh meat products to specifications.
- Prepares fresh meat value added products to standards.
- Weighs, prices and wraps products selected by customers.
- Monitor quality of product and report any concerns to the Department Head.
- May use slicers, saws, knives and tenderizers.
- Assists in the end of day clean up and storage of meats for the Meat Counter
- Assists in the stocking of the self service counter of vacuum packed meat and kitchen items and ensures proper product rotation.
- May prepare special orders for customers.
- Ensures that the Meat Counter area and meat coolers are safe, clean, sanitary and visually appealing.
- May assist with Curbside orders.
- Other duties as directed by Store Management.
Requirements
- 1 – 2 years experience as a Meat Cutter are required.
- Excellent knife skills are required.
- Formal education in a Culinary or Meat Cutting program is an asset.
- Must be comfortable working with meat (Beef, Pork, Chicken and Seafood).
- Experience working with equipment such as a grinder, power saw, slicer and/or tenderizer is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff and other departments within the organization.
- Strong customer service skills are required.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the store.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.
- Bend and twist the upper body, reach above and below shoulders.
- Bend and lift loads, up to 50 pounds.
- Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
- Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc)
Fresh Meat Department Head (Upper James, Full- Time)
The role of the Department Head is to manage the operation of the assigned department efficiently and effectively to achieve Sales and Net Operating Profit (NOP) goals while giving customers an excellent shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Reports to Store Manager
- Plans daily and ongoing fresh meat production list and delegates tasks as required
- Supervises and participates in regular fresh meat department duties, including customer service, daily cutting, preparing value added products and merchandising of fresh meat products
- Monitors product rotation and discounting, escalating product feedback to the appropriate channel as applicable
- Responsible for departmental ordering to support the Company’s Merchandising and
- Promotional strategies
- Participate in regular department head meetings to address company objectives and departmental needs
- Responsible for expense control in the department including but not limited to labor and operational expenses and preventative maintenance
- Provide training to new and existing Associates on Company best practices, company expectations as well as policy adherence
- Provide performance management to ensure the department aligns with the Company
- Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles
- Manages Departmental schedule and communicates staffing needs to Store Manager as required
- Keyholder responsibilities including opening, closing an mid- shift duties
- Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years service in a similar retail environment, supervisory experience is an asset.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a Meat Cutter role.
- Food Handlers certification is an asset.
- Excellent knife skills are required.

Seafood Associate (Burlington, Full- Time)
Responsible for preparing Seafood and Value added Fresh Meat products, packaging/over-wrapping/labelling and merchandising service and self service areas. Also responsible for serving customers at the Seafood & Meat Counter in a courteous and friendly manner.
Responsibilities
- Reports to Fresh Meat Department Head
- Assists customers in the selection of cuts of seafood and other products sold at the meat counter.
- Weighs, prices and wraps products selected by customers.
- Assists with the ordering and inventory management of the fresh and frozen seafood products
- Assists with the preparation of value added meat products to maximize product freshness and rotation
- Monitor quality of product and report any concerns to the Department Head.
- May use slicers, saws, knives and tenderizers.
