Maintenance Assistant Supervisor (full time)

Is a hands-on position responsible for conducting the maintenance of food processing equipment including but not limited to troubleshooting, repairing and preventative maintenance. This position is also responsible for assisting with the supervision of the maintenance team.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to Maintenance Manager
  • Identifies equipment breakdown causes, repairs and rebuilds mechanical equipment
  • required for operations.
  • Oversees and conducts preventative maintenance according to equipment requirements.
  • Identify areas for improvement in maintenance processes and implement best practices and optimize maintenance strategies to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Regularly inspect machinery and equipment to identify issues and maintenance needs and assess the condition of equipment and determine when maintenance or repairs are required. Collaborate with maintenance employees to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  • Assists with the supervision of the maintenance team, including but not limited to overseeing and delegating tasks and enforcing safety protocols and guidelines within the maintenance department.
  • Ensures that all maintenance activities comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Monitor and maintain an inventory of spare parts and materials necessary for maintenance tasks. Sources and orders parts as required.
  • Takes readings and maintains accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
  • Assist with general building maintenance repairs and basic construction work.
    May be required to assist with maintenance at retail locations.
    All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • An active 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright or Industrial Mechanic license is required.
  • A minimum of 3 Years experience in manufacturing with a mechanical background.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Ability to work from schematics, drawings and prints when troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, food safety, etc.
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of CMMS is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with refrigeration is required.
  • HVAC skills are an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and hands-on leadership style with the ability to delegate.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Essential Functions
  • Required to work on the ground under machinery and work in coolers or freezers.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.
  • Bend and twist the upper body, reach above and below shoulders.
  • Bend and lift loads, up to 50 pounds.
  • Push and pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
  • Flexibility in scheduling required.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures.

Industrial Butcher/ Deboner (Full- Time)

Responsible for deboning standard cuts of meat for further processing.

Responsibilities

  • Debones standard cuts of meat
  • Cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of meat
  • Ensures product quality
  • Maintains a clean environment and follows all food safety rules and regulations
  • All other duties as assigned by Management

Requirements

  • 1 year experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Knife experience is an asset
  • Comfortable working with raw meat products (beef, pork, chicken)
  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive work for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Comfortable with assisting other departments as necessary
  • Meat packaging and food manufacturing plant
  • Physically demanding and fast paced work environment
  • Early morning start (6 am Monday to Friday)
  • Refrigerated (cold) environment
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation

Packer (Full- Time)

Responsible for the packaging of all goods for resale in the packing room. Reports to the Packing Room Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Daytime M-F
  • Slices/arranges cold-cuts into vacuum packing machine.
  • Packs prepared meat products for vacuum and shrink tunnel machines.
  • Properly codes all products.
  • May help in the sausage kitchen and salad kitchen.
  • Operates hand slicer, automatic slicer, VP machinery, wrapping machine and hand knives.
  • Reports equipment problems to the packing room supervisor.
  • Reports any quality control issues to the supervisor.
  • Responsible to operate within the health and safety guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • 1 year experience in the manufacturing industry is an asset
  • Knife experience is an asset.
  • Comfortable working with raw meat products (beef, pork, chicken).
  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive work for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable with assisting other departments as necessary.

Sausage Kitchen Assistant (Full- Time)

This position is responsible for assisting with the production in the Sausage Kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Daytime M-F, 6am start
  • Reports to Sausage Kitchen Supervisor
  • Cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of meat
  • Assists with preparation and production of all products in the Sausage Kitchen
  • Maintains a clean environment and follows all food safety rules and regulations
  • All other duties as assigned by Management

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn
  • Comfortable handling raw meat products (beef, pork, chicken)
  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive work for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Comfortable with assisting other departments as necessary
