Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Respite Worker to join our team. The Respite Worker will work closely with children or adults with behavioral challenges, providing support to improve their social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
Wages depends on experience: $20-28
Key Responsibilities
Support Individualized Behavior Plans: Assist in the implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) designed by behavior analysts or therapists.
Monitor and Record Progress: Observe and document the client’s behavior, progress, and challenges during sessions, maintaining accurate records for review by the supervising therapist.
Assist in Daily Activities: Help clients with daily activities, including academic tasks, social interactions, and other structured activities aimed at promoting positive behavior.
Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and intervention during behavioral crises, ensuring the safety of the client and others.
Positive Reinforcement: Use positive reinforcement strategies to encourage desirable behaviors and discourage negative behaviors.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the client, family members, and other team members regarding the client’s progress and any concerns.
Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training sessions to stay current with best practices in behavior intervention and support.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other professionals, including teachers, therapists, and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive support for the client.

Requirements & Prerequisites

Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required;  Personal Support Worker, Child and Youth Practitioner,   Developmental Services Worker,  bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, or a related field is preferred.  Previous documented experience working in this field.
Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges, developmental disabilities, or special needs is preferred, but willing to train.
Skills:
  – Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  – Patience and empathy in working with individuals with challenging behaviors.
  – Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  – Proficient in maintaining detailed and accurate records.
  – Basic knowledge of behavior management techniques and interventions.
Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification required; additional certification in behavior management (e.g., RBT, CPI, ABA training, Safe Management)
