Various Roles: General Office Clerk and Shipper/Receiver - 23 018
Job Description
We are a specialty foods store with 3 locations across Hamilton and we are looking for energetic and self-motivated individuals to join our team. We are currently hiring for two roles: a General Office Clerk and a Shipper/Receiver.
General Office Clerk:
We are looking for a General Office Clerk to perform various administrative and clerical tasks to support our office. You will undertake a variety of activities in the office ranging from filing and answering the phone to basic bookkeeping and assisting with HR related tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain files and records so they remain updated and easily accessible
- Answer the phone to take messages or redirect calls to appropriate colleagues
- Utilize office equipment such as photocopier, printers etc.
- Assist Accounting and HR departments with various clerical tasks
- Must maintain confidentiality
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned
Days & Hours of Work: Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm
Wage: $19.00 per hour
Benefits available after 3 months (includes extended health care)
Shipper/Receiver:
The shipper/receiver is responsible for maintaining and controlling all incoming and outgoing inventory with the proper systems and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Shipping and receiving of all products
- Ensures all products are checked against packing slips necessary for proper payment
- Records and communicates to warehouse supervisor/office manager any product shortages or damages
- Ensures product and asset control procedures are followed to minimizes loses
- Keep stock room clean/organized while complying with company rotation policies
- Maintain proper security in the receiving, pricing and storage areas
- Accurately price, label and tag items and deliver to proper area of the store
- Comply with all Health and Safety regulations
- Perform other duties as required
Days & Hours of Work: Mon – Sat 7:30am – 3:30pm (as scheduled)
Wage: $16.50 per hour
Environmental Conditions: This position involves exposure to cold/warm temperatures

Requirements & Prerequisites
General Office Clerk:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an office environment; be familiar with office equipment and procedures
- Proficient with MS office
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work diligently to help maintain smooth office operations
- Must be reliable with excellent attention to detail
Shipper/Receiver:
- Fork lift certification
- Completion of Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior shipping/receiving experience
- Criminal Record Check
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds, unassisted and able to push and pull carts with product weighing up to 100 pounds
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be well organized, have good record keeping skills and be detail oriented
- Must be available to work Saturdays
