Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. Regina’s Place is a program within Good Shepherd Youth Services that provides transitional housing and support services to young mothers with a focus on positive parenting and life skills development. An opportunity currently exists in the role of:

Part Time
Youth Support Worker

In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of adolescent mothers and their children living at Regina’s Place – Youth Services. Services to clients include assessment, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counseling, education, advocacy, social/recreational programming, life skills teaching i.e. cooking and linkages with other community services.

Primary case management and community development skills acquired through a post-secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker or Social Service Worker, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, responsibility, adaptability, quality and dignity are required. The successful candidate will possess experience working with adolescent mothers and children, knowledge of the Child and Family Service Act and a proven ability to work independently. Proficiency in French and/or another language other than English is an asset.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. The ability to complete housekeeping/cleaning duties in a residential setting is required. Certification in CPR or a willingness to be certified is also required. A valid driver’s license is also required.
