Job Description
Position Summary:
We are hiring dependable, caring Dietary Aides and Dining Room Servers to support a retirement home in Ancaster. These roles help residents enjoy nutritious meals in a welcoming, clean, and comfortable dining environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up dining areas and prepare tables before meal service.
- Serve meals and beverages with courtesy, patience, and respect.
- Follow residents documented dietary requirements, allergies, and meal instructions.
- Assist with basic food preparation, portioning, and plating as assigned.
- Clear tables, wash dishes, and clean dining areas and kitchen equipment.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures.
- Communicate resident meal preferences, concerns, or changes in appetite to the appropriate team member.
- Work closely with kitchen and care staff to provide timely, organized meal service.
Requirements & Prerequisites
- Previous food service, hospitality, or dietary aide experience preferred.
- Experience in a retirement or long-term care home is an asset.
- Friendly communication skills and a respectful approach to working with seniors.
- Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and manage a busy meal service.
- Ability to perform duties involving standing, walking, bending, and carrying trays or supplies.
- Food Handler certification preferred; facility requirements will apply.
- Tuberculosis test completion is an asset
- Willingness to provide required screening documents, which may include a police check, TB screening, and immunization records.
- Availability for scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
