Job Description
We are a leading provider of home medical equipment and mobility solutions in Hamilton and the surrounding area. We help individuals maintain their independence, mobility, and safety through specialized equipment, service, and support.
The Position:
We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair home medical and mobility equipment. Experience in the medical equipment industry is not required. We provide paid on-the-job and manufacturer training.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with cars, motorcycles, bicycles or e-bikes, small engines, electronics, appliances, machinery, construction, or general hands-on repair. Professional experience is an asset, but a strong personal interest in mechanical or technical work also counts.
***The wage starts at $17.95/ Hour, though there is opportunity for increase after training is completed and experience is accumulated.***
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair manual and power wheelchairs, mobility scooters, hospital
beds, patient lifts, and other home medical equipment. - Installation of Home Accessibility Devices such as grab bars, porch lifts, ramps, and more.
- Identify mechanical and electrical problems and complete appropriate repairs, assembly, installation, and preventative maintenance.
- Complete service calls at clients’ homes, long-term care homes, retirement homes, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities.
- Load, unload, deliver, and safely move mobility and medical equipment.
- Ensure equipment is operating safely and properly before returning it to the client.
- Explain equipment operation and basic maintenance to clients, caregivers, and facility staff.
- Maintain accurate service records and properly care for company tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Participate in company and manufacturer technical training
Requirements & Prerequisites
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence with a good driving record.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn.
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools and learning to work with motors, batteries, wiring, electrical components, and mechanical assemblies.
- Dependable, organized, professional, and able to work independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational education is an asset but not required.
***This is a hands-on, physically active role. The successful candidate must be able to regularly lift, carry, load,
and unload heavy equipment; safely handle approximately 50–75 lbs independently; and use appropriate
equipment or team lifting for heavier items. The role also requires bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and
moving wheelchairs, scooters, beds, and other equipment.***
