Job Description

The Downtown Hamilton Business Improvement Area (BIA) is hiring three Street Crew members to support the daily operations of a summer pedestrianization program on King William Street and contribute to the cleanliness and upkeep of the broader downtown core.

Each shift includes setting up or taking down street furniture and infrastructure on King William Street, as well as general cleaning duties in the BIA area including litter pickup, weeding, and graffiti removal.

Term: July 27 to September 9, 2026

Schedule: Approximately 15–20 hours/week, Monday to Saturday; split shifts (morning and evening) required on some days

Key Responsibilities

Set up and take down street furniture, signage, and other program elements each shift, including tents on programming days
Perform general cleaning and maintenance in the BIA area during each shift, including litter pickup, weeding, and graffiti removal
Help maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-kept public space throughout the program
Report any damage, safety concerns, or maintenance issues to BIA staff

Requirements & Prerequisites

Ideal Qualifications

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Comfortable with a variable schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and split shifts
Comfortable with physical work, including lifting and moving equipment
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
Attention to detail and pride in keeping public spaces clean and well-maintained
Previous experience in maintenance, landscaping, events, or a similar hands-on role is an asset
Familiarity with downtown Hamilton is an asset
