Job Description

We are looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused Visitor Experience Hosts to join our team. As the first point of contact for our visitors, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and memorable experience. If you love engaging with people, sharing knowledge, and being part of an organization dedicated to nature and conservation, this role is for you!

This is a contract position from October 6, 2025 to October 2, 2025.

  • Greet visitors with warmth and enthusiasm, ensuring they feel welcome from the moment they arrive.
  • Provide information about RBG’s programs, events, and attractions to help guests make the most of their visit.
  • Process admissions and input visitor details using an electronic admission system.
  • Respond to telephone calls and perform ticket sales over the phone as necessary.
  • Promote and process RBG membership sales and renewals, encouraging visitors to become part of our community.
  • Maintain and update member accounts in the database system.
  • Handle cash, cheque, debit, and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Reconcile daily sales and manage morning and evening float balances.
  • Other administrative duties as required to support guest services.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to ensure smooth visitor experiences across RBG’s various locations.
  • Work Conditions: This position requires both indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Physical Requirements: Standing for extended periods, occasional sitting at a desk, and working with a computer.
  • Schedule: Seasonal, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Requirements & Prerequisites

  • Strong communication skills with a passion for customer service.
  • A friendly, helpful, and professional attitude when engaging with visitors.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Comfort working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • The ability to speak a second language is an asset.
  • An interest in nature, conservation, horticulture, or science is a plus.
