Duties
We are currently seeking to fill (1) one Visitor Facilities Custodian position at HMCS Haida NHS.
The Visitor Facilities Custodian position is responsible for the cleaning and basic maintenance of multiple office spaces and visitor use areas aboard HMCS Haida.
You will be working in Parks Canada buildings, site spaces, as well as other public-use areas. Duties include:
• Light maintenance tasks and minor repairs (such as replacing light bulbs, hardware replacement, painting, landscape/lawn maintenance, etc);
• The daily cleaning of staff/office buildings, site washrooms, grounds cleaning, grounds care, litter picking, and emptying of trash and recycling receptacles;
• Interaction with site visitors to provide information and direction.
Intent of the process
This will be a seasonal term position of 0.6 FTE (31 weeks) per year, between April and November for the next 3 years, with the possibility of extension. $22.33 to $24.30 per hour.
This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates that could be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic profiles in the same or other parts of the country.

Requirements & Prerequisites

Education:
– Successful completion of secondary school education, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Experiences:
EX1 • Experience providing cleaning services;
EX2 • Experience with light/minor maintenance tasks;
EX3 • Experience in customer service or visitor interactions (responding to questions, directing customers or visitors to information, etc);
EX4 • Experience maintaining and restocking supplies.

A5 • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.;
A6 • Ability to perform physical tasks involving bending, twisting, ladder climbing, etc.;

Operational Requirements:
• Work shift-work, including evening, weekends, and statutory holidays;
• Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy;
• Work outdoors in varying temperatures and inclement weather;
