Laboratory Technician
Job Description
Birla Carbon Canada Ltd. is looking for 2 full-time Laboratory Technicians for our first-class plant located at 755 Parkdale Avenue North, Hamilton, ON L8H 7N5. Responsible for testing of the quality of our carbon black products, we are seeking qualified applicants to join us as we continue to set the standard as a leader in carbon black manufacturing and achieving our goal of net zero carbon emissions.

Job Description
Your job duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor and test all customer products in accordance with procedures and quality standards
- Complete laboratory logbook entries, lab reports, and lab records with a high degree of precision, accuracy and attention to detail
- Ensure all lab equipment is properly calibrated, maintained and tested with standards
- Demonstrate a commitment to our customers’ satisfaction, product quality, testing accuracy, procedural compliance, on-time performance, safety, and the environment
- Collaborate with operations and warehouse about quality matters, metrics and standards
- Assist in the development of test procedures, for the efficiency of and standardization of laboratory machines and for the training of the laboratory personnel
- Prepare sample shipments for customers with the required paperwork
- Perform all required duties safely, efficiently, and within required housekeeping, safety, and environmental standards
- Perform other relevant duties as required
Wages and Benefits
Successful applicants will be paid $31.83 per hour, for 42 hours of work per week. Requirements & Prerequisites
Work Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring experience in carbon black manufacturing, with a minimum of 1-3 years in the industry. A strong foundation in chemical, biochemical, or chemical engineering technology is essential, coupled with a demonstrated track record in laboratory procedures and the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Moreover, the successful candidate will have a keen understanding of carbon black chemical manufacturing processes and operations, enabling them to provide detailed technical knowledge and support to our dedicated team in providing low-carbon solutions.
Completion of chemical, biochemical, or chemical engineering technology diploma, or equivalent, is required. The successful applicant must also have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and ability to perform physical labour.
